Ankang University (AKU)
Ankang University (AKU) is a comprehensive 4 years undergraduate state university administered by the Shaanxi Provincial Government. The origin of AKU can be traced back to this University of 1958, which was suspended in 1963 because of national economic difficulties. In 1978 it was restarted as a branch school of Shaanxi Normal University, and in 1984 it was renamed “Ankang Teacher’s College” with the approval of the Shaanxi Provincial Government. In 2004, the incorporation of Ankang Education Institute and Ankang Agricultural School into Ankang Teacher’s College formally formed AKU. In February 2006, with the authorization of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), it was approved as an undergraduate university.
Ankang University is situated in Ankang City of Shaanxi Province, sometimes called “the back-garden of Xi’an”; the city boasts an extraordinary Ecological and Geographical Environment, including the nearby Tsinling Mountains, Mt. Bashan and the Hanjiang River. AKU covers an area about 600,000 square meters. Its buildings have floor space of about 242,716 square meters, and are equipped with a wide variety of the latest teaching equipment valued at closely 50,000,000 RMB. The library houses 938,400 books, 3140 GB of electronic books, & 1108 different journals. The Gigabit campus network offers easy access to the China Journal Net Database, Wanfang Database and the Internet, which together provide a ready platform for teaching and scientific research for students and faculty.
The present AKU consists of 12 departments encompassing 52 majors grouped under the heading of Mathematics, Chinese, Foreign Languages, Electronic and Information Engineering, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Politics and History, Education and Science, Arts, Economics & Management, Physical Education, Agriculture and Life Sciences and Adult Education. AKU has been focusing on developing research projects related to such aspects of the local environment as the cultural study of the Hanjiang River Valley, the protection and management of natural resources in the Tsinling Mountains and Mt Bashan, and local Sericultural research and development. It features one provincial-level key discipline, four provincial-level quality courses, one national level feature major, 2 provincial vocational key majors, 2 provincial excellent pilot majors,1 provincial experiment teaching demonstration center, and 1 provincial talent training innovation experimental plot. The university enrolls students from 23 provinces across the country. A lot of full time students is 9435; among those the number of undergraduate students is 6176, accounting for 65.46 percent of the total number of students. The permanent university structure, mainly focused on undergraduate education, has been formed.
The university has a professional teaching staff with proficient teaching skills and research capabilities. Of the 522 are full time teachers, 760 staff members, 158 hold the title of professor or associate professor; 299 have Doctor’s or Master’s degrees; and one is a famous contemporary Chinese writer. 2 excellent teaching groups are recognized throughout the province, and 5 teachers are well known and admired throughout the province. Over 60 teachers in the university have been rewarded prizes and government allowances for a wide range of achievements. These include the State Council’s, National Outstanding Teacher Award, the National Award for Outstanding Educators, the Zeng Xianzi Award, the Outstanding Teaching Achievements Prize and the excellent Teaching Materials Award. The university engages over 82 senior scholars, including academics that are considered experts in their fields within China, as the university’s emeritus professors.
Insisting on the guiding thought of ‘making teaching & academic research promote each other’, AKU makes many efforts to improve its teaching level, and also its academic research standard. Since being improved to the level of a comprehensive university of undergraduate education, teachers of AKU have undertaken approximately 507 research projects in different levels and different categories, including projects of the National Social Science Fund Project, humanities and social science research of the Ministry of Education, and the‘13115’ major science research project of the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province.
Furthermore, the teachers in AKU have published about 3,811 academic theses in domestic or foreign academic publications and seventy-four works or teaching materials (as the chief editor or participant). Moreover, AKU has founded 6 provincial research platforms, and twelve municipal and scholastic research platforms. This university also has established technology-cooperation relationship with such universities as the Southwest University, Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University, and Shaanxi Normal University; signed overall technology-cooperation agreements with the county governments in Shiquan, Hanyin, and Langao; and signed school-enterprise cooperation agreement with the Yangchen Animal Husbandry Technology Company. In such ways AKU’s economic & social service functions are being constantly improved.
Upholding the motto “Sincere in learning, initiative in action, tenacious in pursuing, and progressive in innovation”, Ankang University believes that molding students into competent citizens is its primary task. This approach contributes to an outstanding campus culture and scholastic atmosphere. To develop students’ abilities in a comprehensive way, AKU makes great efforts to organize diversified on-campus activities, community services and social activities. Since 2006 students of AKU have achieved over 200 awards in different national competitions: the National Mathematical Modeling Contest, the Higher Mathematics Competition, the National “CCTV Cup” College Students’ English Speech Contest, the National University Students’ Language Fundamentals Contest, the Chinese Teachers Contest, the National “Challenge Cup” Entrepreneurship Competition and the Extra-Curricular Academic Works Contest. The university has steadily exploited the employment market & actively implements the national college students` employment policy project. In 2011 the employment rate of our undergraduate graduates averaged to 90.52%, and that of our junior college students to 87.42%; the comprehensive employment rate for all graduates in China is about 88.5 percent.
We also affix importance to education exchanges, including cooperation with other universities, enterprises and organizations. Ankang University has established partnerships and cooperative relationships with Huazhong University of Science and Technology, the Communications University of China, Shanghai Ocean University, Shaanxi Normal University, and few other highly regarded universities that offer regular assistance to this university. International education initiatives are also in progress. We employ foreign teachers from the USA, the UK, Japan and many other countries throughout each academic year. This university has signed cooperative education agreements with the University of Ballarat (Australia), Whitireia Community Polytechnic (New Zealand), Eastern New Mexico University(U.S.A), Rockford College (U.S.A), Lawrence Technological University (U.S.A) and Chia Nan University of Pharmacy & Science (Taiwan) to maintain a good platform for teachers and students to study abroad.

Admission Procedure
Apply for a course in a Chinese University is very easy. Students just have to follow some steps to apply for their favorite course. In order to help students complete their online application, International students are recommended to follow the simple instructions.
Foreign applicants must provide the following documents to apply:
1. Application Form fills in Chinese or in English.
2. Passport & Passport Size Photo (Scan copy )

Dear student, the first thing you need to have a passport. This is more important documents because without a passport you can not go to study in your dream country. To have passport make you secure to live or study abroad. So if you don’t have it, we suggest you make your passport ready from the embassy office in your home country. Moreover if you have your passport already, then make sure your passport expiry date will not be expired. If it already be expired then you need to remake your passport.
- Passport Size Photo
The passport photo size (50mm x 40mm) in general. The photo should be clear and the background must be plain, white or off-white in color. The height of the head should be between 28mm – 33mm.The head width has to be between 21mm–24mm. Submit a color photo, taken in the last 6 months. Use a clear image of your face. 3. Transcripts & Certificates (Must be Notarized Copy )
Students for Bachelor Degree need to provide their school transcripts and certificates. For Master Degree Applicants have to bring their undergraduate transcripts and certificates. And Doctorate Degree studies must provide their both (undergraduate and graduate) transcripts and certificates.
Please take as a note that is, all the transcripts and certificates should be notarized.
Note : Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translations in Chinese or English.
4. English Proficiency Certificate
In China, some universities does not asked IELTS but if you study in Chinese Taught for CSC scholarship, English Proficiency Certificate need to have ready. If you have IELTS already then you are lucky to study in China without delay.
5. CV/Resume
Applicants must have to prepare their CV if they want to study abroad in their desired country. The Resume or CV should include their academic qualifications with results, personal details (name, date of birth, marital status, national Id or school Id, physical address, contact no, nationality, language, etc), reference from your institution’s faculty (his/her name, address and designation), personal achievement, etc. To know how to make a standard CV please click here the sample of The Resume.
6. Study Plan or Research Proposal (Ms/PhD)
Applicants for graduate studies need a study plan or research proposal in Chinese or in English (no less than 800 words). This document is required only for Ms or PhD applicants.
7. Recommendation Letter (Ms/PhD)
Applicants for all graduate studies need two letters of recommendation from full professors or associate professors (in Chinese or English). Letters must be include professors’ phone number and email address. Here is the sample of Recommendation Letter.
8. Published Academic Papers or Other Academic Achievements (if applicable).
9. Foreign Physical Examination
Applicants are expected to keep the original copies filled in English. The medical examination must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Medical examination results will be valid for 6 months. All applicants are kindly requested to take this factor into consideration as they plan to take the medical examination. 10. Bank Statement
Bank statements must show to any foreign country for the purpose of a visitor or a business or an immigrants. For the study purpose in foreign countries also need to show bank statement. So dear applicants, you will need to have ready your all documents. Sponsorship can be your parents or anyone whom are your blood related.
11. Police Verification (No Criminal Record)
This is also need to have ready for the study purpose. It is important because foreign country does not allow criminal record. A Police Clearance Certificate is an official document approved by the police or government agencies in order to prove that the applicant has no criminal offense against him/her like arrest, conviction. “ after scholarship student just need to pay tuition fee of 3500-4500 RMB ( around 70.000 PKRS) along with hostel fee of 1500 RMB (around 110.000 PKRS) yearly directly to the university”
