Beijing University of Chinese Medicine(北京中医药大学) is a national key university with Chinese medicine as the main subject. It is directly managed by the Ministry of Education and is jointly built by the Ministry of Education, the National Health and Health Commission, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Beijing. The university’s current party committee secretary Gu Xiaohong and principal Xu Anlong.
Beijing University of Chinese Medicine(北京中医药大学) was founded in 1956, formerly known as Beijing College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and it was the earliest college of Chinese medicine approved by the State Council. In 1960, it was designated as a national key university by the central government. In 1993, it was renamed as Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. In 1996, it was selected as a national key construction university of the “211 Project”. It merged with Beijing Academy of Acupuncture and Moxibustion and Orthopedics to form a new Beijing University of Chinese Medicine in 2000.
Beijing University of Chinese Medicine(北京中医药大学) has 3 campuses of Heping Street Campus, Wangjing Campus, and Liangxiang Campus, covering an area of 268 acres. It currently has Chinese medicine, Chinese pharmacy, Chinese medicine pharmacy, pharmacy, acupuncture and massage, rehabilitation therapy, public service management (hygiene), and pharmaceutical management, Information management and information system, nursing, English (medicine, Chinese medicine international communication), law (medicine and health) 12 undergraduate admissions majors. Beijing University of Chinese Medicine(北京中医药大学) is one of the first batches of establishments of doctoral degree stations and post-doctoral scientific research mobile stations in higher institutions of Chinese medicine nationwide. It has three post-doctoral scientific research mobile stations of Chinese medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, and integrated Chinese and Western medicine. It has 3 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorizations, including 42 second-level discipline doctoral degree-granting points, 7 first-level discipline master’s degree authorizations, including 45 master’s degree awarding points. The university currently has 2 national key disciplines of first-level disciplines, covering 15 national key disciplines of second-level disciplines, 48 key disciplines of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 2 first-level disciplines of Beijing, and 8 second-level disciplines of Beijing.
The university currently has 5,233 faculty members and 1,478 full-time teachers. Among them, 61.84% have senior professional and technical positions, 84.64% have master’s degrees or above, and 346 doctoral supervisors. The university has 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 6 masters of Chinese medicine, 3 “national famous Chinese medicine”, 33 “national famous doctors of the capital”, 4 chief scientists of the “973” project, winners of the National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation 4 people, 3 “Yangtze River Scholars” specially-appointed professors, 9 “Qihuang Scholars”, 7 people in charge of key special projects of the National Key R & D Program “Modernization Research of Traditional Chinese Medicine”, and 5 people in the “Technology of Ten Thousand Program” leading scientific and technological innovation, and 134 experts enjoying special government allowances. The faculty is mainly composed of famous foreign experts and scholars and influential domestic young and middle-aged professors.
There are 12,602 full-time students on campus, including 4,504 graduate students, 7,536 undergraduate students, and 562 international students. In addition, there are 1,864 continuing education students and 17,859 remote education students. The university currently has 3 national teaching teams, 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center, and 3 national college students’ off-campus practice education bases. The university has won 1 first prize (participation completed), 2-second prizes, 8 first prizes and 10-second prizes of Beijing Teaching Achievement Award.
Beijing University of Chinese Medicine(北京中医药大学) library has a collection of the literature of traditional Chinese medicine with Western medicine literature as complementary. There are more than annual increases of 48,000 volumes of printed literature and 880,000 copies of thread-bound books. Over 3900 kinds of thread-bound books contain a total of more than 8000 letters and 39,000 books. The library also contains 120,000 volumes of journals, more than 97,000 copies of traditional Chinese and western medicine journals, more than 29000 copies of foreign periodicals, and more than 1000 kinds of current issues. There are nearly 410,000 collections of electronic books, including more than 40,000 copies of traditional Chinese electronic books.
Living facilities consist of 6 person rooms, 4 person rooms, and bunk beds, but there are 3 bunk beds and 2 tables and 3 cupboards. There is a balcony, 2 public washrooms on each floor, 1 water room on each floor, and there is a TV room on each floor. Undergraduates live in the 6 person room and postgraduates are in 4 person rooms. There are two canteens in Beijing University of Chinese Medicine(北京中医药大学) providing Chinese food, Korean food, and Muslim food. The university has sports facilities for students which include stadiums, outdoor basketball courts, volleyball courts, tennis courts, gate ball courts, and a fully equipped gym on both campuses.

First of all, you must have a passport. As we know passport is a very essential document and without this, we can not leave our country. So if you don’t have it yet, we advise you to make it from your home country as soon as possible. Moreover, if you already have your passport, then make sure that it is not expired. The general size of the passport size photo is (50mm x 40mm). For applying in china universities, your passport size photo has to be clear and the background must be plain, white or off-white in colour. The height of the head is between 28mm – 33mm and head width 21mm–24mm. Advice to submit a colour photo which is taken 6 months before. Use a clear picture of your face. Do not use any filters and take off your eyeglasses for passport size photos, selfies or pictures with someone do not use as a passport size photo. Here is a sample of a Passport Size Photo.
Submit your immediate academic transcripts & certificate for applying. For example, if you are applying for bachelor submit your school transcripts and certificates. For Master’s Degree provide your undergraduate transcripts and certificates. When you are applying for Ph.D, you have to provide your both (undergraduate and graduate) transcripts and certificates. Transcript And Certificate are important, it help universities to decide if you have the necessary background and skills for the major. All Transcripts and Certificates must have to be notarized. You can notarize your document from an advocate who is authorized by the government.
Note: All the applicant’s transcripts and certificates must be notarized and language should be in Chinese or English version.
You must prepare a CV or resume for applying in abroad country. CV acts as your business profile, though universities are not interested in detailed descriptions of your jobs or experience, but you have to add this. You should focus on your published academic papers, describe academic group works or extracurricular activities, relevant think-thanks, etc. Add your academic qualifications with results, personal details, personal achievement these are must for a perfect CV. Aspiring overseas students are required to take a medical examination to ensure that you are in a good physical condition. The medical examination must include all the items which are listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. The medical examination result will be declared as invalid without the signature of the attending doctor and hospital stamp or seal. You must bring the original medical documents when you come to arrive in China. The Medical certificate will be carried out on behalf of The Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Public Security. Here get a sample of physical examination.
The police clearance certificate is known as “No Criminal Record Certificate” and also known as a good citizen certificate. Police clearance is very important for going to abroad because a foreign country does not allow any criminal records. Police Clearance Certificate is an official document approved by the police or government agencies to prove that you have no criminal offense like arrest, conviction. Additionally, a police clearance certificate is valid for the next 6 months, After 6 months of issue, it will be declared as invalid. See the sample of the Police Clearance Certificate.
A bank statement is mandatory when we go foreign for different purposes like a visitor, a business or immigrants. These rules are not changeable for study. So, students also have to show a bank statement. China has no strict rules that only your parents have to be your sponsor. Anyone can be your sponsor. See the sample of a bank statement.
For studying in China you must have to submit your English proficient certificate to prove your English skills. It is not mandatory that you must have IELTS, you can take English Proficiency Certificate from your school or university. Additionally, If you have done IELTS or TOFEL you can submit it. If you want to study in Chinese taught and want to get CSC scholarship then you must have to submit HSK certificate of proficiency in Chinese. HSK is not mandatory for English taught, but if you have it will be beneficial for you. Students of masters & Ph.D. have to submit two recommendation letters. A recommendation letter is usually written by a supervisor, colleague, and teacher. Two recommendation letters have to be written by two-person. Make sure that the writer knows you very well and you have completed any course with them or work with them. In the letter mention about your academic and personal traits and emphasize the strengths that are relevant to the major or university where you are applying. Have to maintain a positive and enthusiastic tone about you and include professor’s phone numbers and email addresses. Here is the sample of the Recommendation Letter.
If you want to apply for MS/Ph.D you must need a study plan or research proposal in Chinese or English (no less than 800 words). A study plan describes in detail what you are going to do with the scholarship. Explain your main educational goal, and how you want to achieve this. And keep in mind that it is very important, that helps in an excellent organization as well as creating a sense of liability in your learning process. This document is needed only for Ms or Ph.D applicants, so please make sure that your study plan or research proposal states that information as specific as possible. See the sample of Study Plan.
Study gap certificate is an affidavit that is used to show a gap in education or further study. Gap certificate provides your statement on the non-judicial stamp paper stating the reason for taking the gap and claim that you did not take admission to any other college, university or courses during the gap year. You can get this stamp paper from any notary, sub-registry office or court and contact with an advocate they will prepare your gap certificate.

In 1996, it cooperated with Middlesex University in the UK to establish the first independent bachelor degree program in China. It was the first to offer undergraduate education in Chinese medicine among the top 50 universities in the world, and a double bachelor’s degree education in “Chinese Medicine-Biology” in cooperation with Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Cooperate with the Medical College of the University of Barcelona in Spain to open the first EU-accredited master’s degree program in Chinese medicine. The first doctoral degree program and master’s degree program in which Chinese doctors teach Chinese medicine in English are taught in China, and the first bachelor’s degree program in Chinese medicine taught in English. The total funding for winning the scientific research project of the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine(北京中医药大学) was 734 million yuan, of which the funding for winning the bid in 2017 reached 211.4 million yuan, an increase of 123.85% over 2016. The national-level scientific research project won 380 projects, of which the national social science fund projects achieved major breakthroughs. For the first time in 2015, it received funding for key projects. In 2016 and 2017, it received funding for major projects of the National Social Science Fund for two consecutive years.
