Chongqing Medical University
Chongqing Medical University (CQMU), established in 1956, is a key university under the administration of Chongqing Municipal Government with an integrated educational system of Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctor’s and Postdoctoral programs in medicine as well as other related fields. CQMU is one of the 30 or so medical universities in China which are accepted by Ministry of Education in China to enlist an international students to study the English-medium MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery) program. The university is also listed among the Chinese medical universities in WHO’s official website and is approved by ECFMG (Educational Committee for Foreign Medical Graduates) in the United States.
Since 2001, it has been enlisting foreign students to study medicine. Today, 552 foreign students from 24 countries are pursuing their doctor dream in the university. The university has 6 associated hospitals directly under its administration, which are all rated as “Upper First-class Hospital” in China. There are over 8,000 beds in the hospitals. The yearly outpatient visits reach 5.54 million and the annual inpatient visits 150,000. Besides, CQMU has 27 teaching and clinical practicing hospitals, 18 colleges and departments. Other 2 connected hospitals are now under construction. The university provides 5 postdoctoral programs, 33 Doctor’s programs, 77 Master’s programs and 37 specialties for undergraduates. The university has 4 state key disciplines and 43 municipal key disciplines.
CQMU also has three state key laboratories of MOE, one state key laboratory of Chongqing and Ministry of Science and Technology, one national engineering research center, 24 municipal key laboratories, 11 research institutes, 6 research centers and 22 research laboratories. The university has 5,500 staff, of whom more than 358 are professors and around 803 associate professors. There are 202 Ph.D. supervisors. Many of them enjoy the special government allowances or have been selected into some national programs, such as “Project for Millions of Talented People of New Century”, “Cheung Kong Scholar and Innovative Team Program”, “Project for New Century Excellent Talents in Universities” and “Project for Trans-century Talents” etc. Students At present, a total of 23,556 students are studying in the university, including 537 Ph. D candidates and 3,210 Master candidates.
CQMU has 2 campuses which cover an area of 3.13 million square meters. The main campus is situated in the downtown area of Chongqing. Geographically, the university is well located in the city, within easy reach to restaurants, hospitals, shops, post offices, banks, launderettes, swimming pools and gyms. CQMU is only about a 35-minute ride from the university to Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport. Buses and monorails which lead to different parts of the city are just outside the university. The new campus, start in 2007, is located in a quiet and beautiful area of the city, with shades of green trees and flowers in blossoms in all seasons. Students from all over countries are warmly welcome to CQMU.
CQMU has achieved many research projects of various levels, including some state-level projects supported by National Key Technology Research and Development Program in the 6th to 9th Five-year Plan for National Economic and Social Development, Key Program of National Natural Science Foundation, National Basic Research Program (known as ‘973 Program’), National Hi-Tech Research and Development Program (known as ‘863 Program’) etc. Meanwhile it has undertaken some international cooperative research projects.
In the year of 2009, total 229 research papers were included in SCI, 1 year increase of 38%. The number of essays included in CSTPCD hit 2,570, ranking 24th among all the domestic universities and institutions and 5th in medical universities and institutions. There are eight academic journals published to readers home and abroad. Since 2008, Chongqing Medical University has achieved National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology twice, National Award for Technological Invention once and municipal awards over 80 times. The High-Intensity Focused Ultrasonic Therapy System (HIFU), which was initiated by CQMU, is the first large-scale medical equipment with completely independent intellectual property rights in China. CQMU has been put into use in around 30 major hospitals in China and exported from about 10 foreign countries, such as the EU, Russia, Japan, Korea and Singapore.
Chongqing Medical University has been strongly conducting international exchanges and cooperation. So far, it has established relationships with more than 20 countries and regions in the world, such as the America, Canada, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Finland, New Zealand, South Korea, Thailand, Japan, France, Australia, Russia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and it has carried out academic exchanges and cooperation with institutes of higher education and scientific researches in these countries and regions.

Detailed information of Chongqing Medical University MBBS Fee Structure
1. Tuition Fee: 30,000 RMB
2. Accommodation Fee:
- Single Room: 9,600 RMB/Year
- Double Room: 4,800 RMB/Year
3. Insurance Fee: 800 RMB/Year

Admission Procedure
Applying for any course at Chongqing Medical University is very easy. Following some easy steps, you can easily apply for your desired course. you can complete your application online by following some simple steps.
Here is the detail information about the required admission documents. International applicants are highly recommended to provide the following documents.
1. Passport Size Photo & Passport (Scan copy)
Passport
The first thing you must need to have a passport. This is a very essential document because without a passport you can not go abroad or your dream country where you want to study or live. To have a passport makes you feel secure to live. So if you don’t have it yet, we advise you to make your passport ready from the embassy office in your home country as soon as possible. Moreover, if you already have your passport, then make sure your passport is not expired. If your passport already expired then you need to renew it. Here is a sample of a passport.
Passport Size Photo
The general size of the passport size photo is (50mm x 40mm). Applying for admission, your passport size photo should be clear and the background must be plain, white or off-white in color. The height of the head has to be between 28mm – 33mm and head width has to be between 21mm–24mm. Advice to submit a color photo which is taken in the last 6 months. Use a clear picture of your face. Do not use any filters and take off your eyeglasses for passport size photos, selfies or pictures with someone do not use as a passport size photo. Here is a sample of a Passport Size Photo.
2. Transcripts & Certificates (Must be Notarized Copy)
If you are interested to apply for Bachelor’s Degree you need to provide your school transcripts and certificates. For a Master’s Degree, you have to provide your undergraduate transcripts and certificates, And for doctorate degree, you have to provide your both (undergraduate and graduate) transcripts and certificates.
Note: All the applicant’s transcripts and certificates must be notarized and language should be in Chinese or English version.
3. Police Verification (No Criminal Record)
Police clearance is very important for going to abroad because a foreign country does not allow any criminal records. A Police Clearance Certificate is an official document approved by the police or government agencies to prove that you have no criminal offense against you like arrest, conviction. This Certificate is also known as a good citizen certificate. See the sample of the Police Clearance Certificate.
4. Foreigners Physical Examination/Checkup/Report
You must have to fill the original copies in English. The medical examination must include all the items which are listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete reports or without the signature of the attending physician and the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed picture of yours are invalid. Medical examination results will be valid for the next 6 months, after 6 months you have to do it again. 5. English Proficiency Certificate
IELTS is not necessary for all Chinese universities but if you want CSC scholarship English proficiency certificate is very important. If you have done IELTS already then you are welcome to study in China without any delay.
6. CV/Resume
You must have to prepare your CV or resume to study abroad in your desired country. Academic qualifications with results, personal details (name, date of birth, marital status, physical address, national Id or school Id, nationality, language, contact no, etc), reference from your institution’s faculty (his/her name, address, and designation), personal achievement, etc are must for a perfect CV. 7. Study Plan or Research Proposal (Ms/Ph.D)
If you want to apply for MS/Ph.D you must need a study plan or research proposal in Chinese or English (no less than 800 words). A study plan describes in detail what you are going to do with the scholarship. Explain your main educational goal, and how you want to achieve this. And keep it your mind that it is very important, that helps in an excellent organization as well as creating a sense of liability in your learning process. This document is needed only for Ms or Ph.D applicants, so please make sure that your study plan or research proposal states that information as specific as possible.
8. 2 Recommendation Letters (Ms/Ph.D)
Applicants for all graduate studies need two recommendation letters from full professors or associate professors (in Chinese or English). The professors must have to be your known and obviously, you have completed any course with them. A recommended letter must have to mention about your academic and personal traits and emphasize the strengths that are relevant to the department or university where you are applying. Have to maintain a positive and enthusiastic tone about you. Letters must be included with professors’ phone numbers and email addresses. Here is the sample of the Recommendation Letter.
9. Published Journal or Other Academic Achievements (if applicable)
Journal publication is not mandatory for applying Ph.D. When you planned for Ph.D. in china or other countries, journal publication will play a major role in getting admission into a good University and it might help in reducing the length of your Ph.D.
10. Bank Statement
Bank statement is mandatory to show any foreign country for different purposes of a visitor, a business or immigrants. These rules are not changeable for study, students also need to show the bank statement. So, applicants, you have to ensure that your all documents are ready. Sponsorship can be your parents or any other sponsors.
11. Study Gap Certificates
If you are not a current student or after complete your bachelor you left your study then you have to submit a gap certificate. Gap certificate is an affidavit that is used to show a gap in education or further study. Gap certificate provides your statement on the non-judicial stamp paper stating the reason for taking the gap and claim that you did not take admission to any other college, university or courses during the gap year. You can get this stamp paper from any notary, sub-registry office or court and contact with an advocate they will prepare your gap certificate.

Chongqing Medical University (CQMU), originally recognized as Chongqing Medical College. It was established in 1956, growing out of Shanghai First Medical College (the present Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University). With closely 60 years of development, CQMU has become a major public medical university that is jointly administered and supported by the MOE of China and the Ministry of Health of China as well as Chongqing Municipal Government.
The university has an extensive system of academic training, from Bachelor to Master, Doctor, and Postdoctoral in medicine as well as other related fields. In the year of 2013, CQMU ranks the 6th among all medical universities in China. Regarding graduate education and discipline competitiveness, the university ranks is the 12th among all Chinese universities offering medical disciplines with 19 colleges & departments, a Graduate School and an Institute of Life Sciences. CQMU offers 7 postdoctoral programs, 38 Ph.D. programs, 86 Master’s programs and 27 specialties for undergraduates. There are 218 Ph.D. supervisors.
