Fuzhou University (FZU) is a national key university classified as a “National Double First-Class” University Project institution and a “National 211 Project” institution. The development of the university is supported jointly by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense under agreements separately signed with the Fujian Provincial People’s Government.
Established in 1958 with a focus on engineering, FZU has now developed into a key university that specializes in engineering and science and supports the study of a wide spectrum of disciplines covering science, engineering, economics, management, humanities, law and the arts. Fuzhou University has several campuses in Fuzhou, Xiamen and Quanzhou with a combined are of 4.7 Km². It is build up of 19 colleges for undergraduate and postgraduate education and one independent college.
FZU takes pride for their strengths of its disciplines, including one “Double First-Class” discipline group, 1 national key discipline, 1 national key (developing) discipline, 5 provincial innovation platforms for prime disciplines, 6 provincial special key disciplines and 26 provincial key disciplines. 3 of the university’s disciplines, namely chemistry, engineering and material sciences, are ranked among the top 1% according to Essential Science Indicators. The school has a faculty and staff of 3,195, of whom 2,078 are regular teachers. Currently there are over 24,000 undergraduate students and around 11,000 postgraduate students in the different disciplines.
Since its establishing, over 210,000 students have graduated from doctoral, masters, undergraduate and secondary programmes at FZU. It has made up a state-level university science and technology park. Of the university’s 12 state-level and 121 provincial level science and technology innovation platforms, there is 1 national key laboratory, 8 state-level engineering research centres, 3 national bases for international science and technology co-operation, 3 MOE key laboratories and 1 MOE engineering research centre.
The university vigorously improved external co-operation and exchanges, and has forged partnerships with over 140 universities, research institutes and recognised enterprises in the United States, Canada, Australia, Great Britain, Japan, Germany, Italy, China’s Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. As a university that receives international students funded by the Chinese Government Scholarship, FZU has enlisted international students from approximately 30 countries. It has hired over 50 overseas experts and scholars to teach here and set up “Look West Library”, the first centre in China to be dedicated to Western literature and codes and records.
Currently, the university has 3 Sino-foreign cooperation programmes available to undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students. Exchanges with Taiwan have been strengthened, now featuring a 2 way communication mode. FZU has implemented a national key pilot project for the reform of Fujian-Taiwan co-operation in running schools, with its 2way communication training model being a highlight in Fujian-Taiwan education exchanges and cooperation. It has become an important field for science, education and culture exchanges between Fujian and foreign countries and Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao.

Apply for a course in a Chinese University is very easy. Students just have to follow some steps to apply for their favorite course. In order to help students complete their online application, International students are recommended to follow the following simple instructions. For Bachelor Degree applicants, they need to only provide high school transcripts and certificates. And for Master Degree applicants, they need to show their undergraduate transcripts and certificates. Applicants for Doctorate Degree have to provide their both (undergraduate and graduate) transcripts and certificates. All the applicants degree (Bachelor,Masters and Doctorate) transcripts and certificates should be notarized.

4. English Proficiency Certificate
In China, some universities does not asked IELTS but if you study in Chinese Taught for CSC scholarship, English Proficiency Certificate need to have ready. If you have IELTS already then you are lucky to study in China without delay.
5. CV/Resume
Applicants must have to make their CV if you want to study abroad in your desired country. In your Resume or CV, there have to be your academic qualifications with results, personal details (name, date of birth, marital status, national Id or school Id, physical address, contact no, nationality, language, etc), reference from your institution’s faculty (his/her name, address and designation), personal achievement, etc. To know how to make a standard CV please click here the sample of The Resume.
6. Study Plan or Research Proposal
Applicants for graduate studies need a study plan or research proposal in Chinese or in English (no less than 800 words). This document required only for Ms or PhD applicants.
7. Recommendation Letter
Applicants for all graduate studies need two letters of recommendation from full professors or associate professors (in Chinese or English). Letters must be include professors’ phone number and email address. Here is the sample of Recommendation Letter
8. Published Academic Papers or Other Academic Achievements (if applicable).
9. Foreign Physical Examination
Applicants are expected to keep the original copies filled in English. The medical examination must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. 10. Bank Statement
Bank statements must show to any foreign country for the purpose of a visitor or a business or an immigrants. For the study purpose in foreign countries also need to show bank statement. So dear applicants, you will need to have ready your all documents. Sponsorship can be your parents or anyone whom are your blood related.
11. Police Verification (No Criminal Record)
This is also need to have ready for the study purpose. It is important because foreign country does not allow criminal record. A Police Clearance Certificate is an official document approved by the police or government agencies in order to prove that the applicant has no criminal offense against him/her like arrest, conviction. Fujian Government Scholarships
The government of Fujian Province is offering scholarships for international students (non-Chinese citizens). Scholarships will be awarded for undergraduate programs or long term language, masters programs, doctoral programs, general scholar programs and senior scholar programs at Fujian Universities. Applicants should not be awardees of Chinese government scholarships at the same time. Applicants should meet the language requirements of the higher education institutions.

Fuzhou University was established in 1954. It is one of the national key universities that are classified into the “211 Project”, a Chinese government programme for the 21st century to support 100 selected universities for their fast development. Since its establishment, Fuzhou University has improved into an extensive university in Fujian Province, giving priority to engineering courses and also enjoying a reputation for excellence in other fields such as science, economics, law, arts, management, liberal arts, and design, etc.
At present, Fuzhou University covers about 333 hectares, including different campuses such as Yishan campus, Qishan campus, Tongpan campus and the College of Industrial Art in Xiamen. The main running campus is placed in Qishan school of the University city of Fuzhou Region. There are 19 schools in Fuzhou University in the main for undergraduate education and 2 independently operated colleges — Zhicheng College and Yangguang College.
There are 4 post-doctoral analysis stations, 9 doctoral degree programmes for the first-rank disciplines, 54 doctoral degree programmes for the 2nd rank disciplines, 29 master’s degree programmes for the first-rank disciplines and 168 master’s degree programmes for the 2nd rank disciplines and 11 professional degree authorization stations.
