Zhengzhou University:

Zhengzhou University was recently settled on July 10, 2000, by a merger of three previous universities: Zhengzhou University, Henan Medical University, and Zhengzhou University of Technology. This is the main far-reaching college set up by the State Council of Chinese Government in 1954. ZZU is on the list of National “211 Project” of key construction universities, and of “One Province, One University” of National Key Support Construction Universities, along with co-construction universities by Henan Province and Ministry of Education.

Run by the People’s Government of Henan Province, ZZU is placed at No.100, Kexuedadao Road, Zhengzhou City, Henan，boasts of a total area of about 939 acres and 4 campuses: Main Campus address- (No.100, Kexuedadao Road, Zhengzhou City),North Campus (No. 97, Wenhua Road, Zhengzhou City), South Campus (No.75, Daxuebeilu Road, Zhengzhou City),& East Campus (No. 40, Daxuebeilu Road, Zhengzhou City). The goal is the whole China for admission, ZZU embraces a wide range of enrollment of over 55,000 full-time undergraduates, over 15,000 full-time postgraduates of all kinds and some 1,800 international students from more than 116 countries & regions.In September of 2017, Zhengzhou university entered the construction sequence of National World First-class Universities. Standing at this new historic starting line, This university decided its location of running school to be comprehensive and research-oriented and laid down a three-step development strategy, striving to build a world first-class extensive research-oriented university by the middle of this century.

Medical education of the University of Zhengzhou could date back to the establishment of National No.5 Sun Yat-sen University in 1928, whose medicine discipline became an independent institution, and in 1952 it was renamed to “Henan Medical College”, therefore breaking new ground for Henan modern medical education. The former Zhengzhou University, the first comprehensive university founded by new China in 1956, was approved to enter National “211 Project” list in 1996. Zhengzhou University of Technology(ZUT), a national key university established in 1963, was under the direct leadership of the former Ministry of Chemical Industry. A new ZZU was born in July 2000 when the former ZZU, ZUT and Henan Medical University (HMU) unite into one. A large number of distinguished scholars & experts have come to teach or work at this university, such as Prof. Ji Wenfu, an educator, historian and philosopher, Prof. Huo Bingquan, a physicist, Prof. Hou Debang, a chemist and Academician Zhong Xiangchong from Chinese Academy of Sciences, an expert in refractory, Prof. Sun Guoliang, an expert in civil engineering, Prof. Dong Minsheng, an expert in otolaryngology, The founder of the esophageal cytology Prof. Shen Qiong, and Prof. Su Shouzhi, an expert in the human parasitology. The long history of Zhengzhou University has improved its own distinctive culture. Entrenched in the broad and profound culture of the Central Plains of China, ZZU people have inherited and developed the virtues of tolerance, leniency and can-do and can-do spirit; Multicultural have thrived on blending and symbiosis here. ZZU fulfills its layout as a comprehensive university. It boasts of 12 major disciplines: philosophy, economics, management science, and arts, reaching a balanced development of all the disciplines. Three “double first-class” construction disciplines, ie., clinical medicine, materials science and engineering, and chemistry & six national key disciplines: the condensed matter physics, material processing engineering, history of ancient China, organic chemistry, chemical technology, pathology and pathophysiology; Besides, 5 disciplines rank top 1% in ESI ranking across the globe, and chemistry, clinical medicine rank top 3% globally. Zhengzhou Universities  ESI academic institution ranking is the 918th the globe, the 45th among all Chinese Universities. There are 21 Ph.D. programs of 1st level disciplines, three doctoral programs of independent 2nd level disciplines, 50 master programs of 1st level disciplines, one granting unit of doctorate professional degree, 22 granting units of professional master degree, and also 24 post-doctoral exchange centers. More than 5700 staff are ten academicians of Chinese Academy of Science and Chinese Academy of Engineering, three overseas academicians. 7 talents who have acquired the National Science Fund for Distinguished Youth Scholars, Seven talents elected to the Yangtze River Scholars Program, 23 to National “hundreds, thousands, dozens of 1000 Talents Project”, and 6 talents to National “1000 talent Plan”. Along with 736 professors, and 2087 PhDs, a strong team of talents is set up, with academicians and academic masters as the head, distinguished youth scholars and young PhDs as backbones. Prof. He Jilinin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, assumes the presidency of the Resources & Industrial Materials Technology Research Institute of Henan Province and Prof. Academician Nicholas Lemoine, a fellow of the UK Academy of Medical Sciences, serves as Dean of the Academy of Medical Sciences at ZZU. This university has attracted many social celebrities to teach here, such as Nan Zhenzhong, a famous journalist, and Er Yuehe, a renowned novelist.

By fostering integrity and promoting rounded development of people, it has formed her own complete system of talent cultivation. Nowadays as many as 113 undergraduate specialties have been offered by 47 schools or departments on the central campus. There are 6 national teaching teams, 6  national teachers, 6 national majors of comprehensive reform pilot, 14 specialties with national characteristics, 11 majors that have passed international engineering education certification, 5 National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centers, 7 National Centers for Engineering Practice Teaching, 4 National Excellent Open Video Courses, 14 National Excellent Courses of sharing resources, 2 National Bilingual Teaching Courses, 2 National Experimental Zones for Innovative Model of Talent Cultivation, 1 National Base for Basic Science Research and Teaching Talent Training, and 1 National Base of Cultural Quality Education for College Students & 2 National Bases for College Student Off-campus Practice Training. In addition, ZZU has so far won 9 National Teaching Achievement Awards and successively been listed as a National University of education and training for Outstanding Engineers, Legal Talents and Doctors. It is voted as “Advanced Unit for National College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Implementation Plans between 2012 and 2014”, entering the 1st batch of Deepening Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education and Reform Model Schools. Technological innovation boosts innovation-driven development. Centering her efforts on national major strategies, This university has stipulated a scheme of implementation that integrates the University into Zhengzhou Luoyang Xinxiang National Self dependent Innovation Demonstration Area, thus forming a system of innovation-driven development. Now ZZU boasts of National Engineering Researching Center for Advanced Polymer Processing Technology,National Research and Promotion Center for Calcium Magnesium Phosphate Compound Fertilizer Technology,  National Engineering Laboratory for Internet Medical Care, National and local Joint Engineering Laboratory for Major Infrastructure Detection and Repairing technology, National Research Center for Drug Safety Evaluation, Collaborative Innovation for National Territorial Sovereignty and Maritime Rights and Interests; 2 National Bases for Medicine Clinical Research,, 6 key laboratories, engineering research centers and key research bases for the humanities and social sciences sponsored by the Ministry of Education, 1 National Training Base for Intellectual Property, 7 provincial collaborative innovation centers of materials, resources and other subjects. Besides, several school level research institutes directly under School authority have also been established, such as the ZZU Academy of Medical Sciences, Henan Provincial Industrial Technology Research Institute of Materials and Resources, ZZU Institute of Pharmacology, Industrial Technology Research Institute of ZZU, Modern Analysis and Calculation Center of Zhengzhou University and so on. Last five years, Zhengzhou university has undertaken 78 projects, such as the National Key Special Projects, National Program 973, Project 863, Project supported by the National Key Technology Research and Development Program etc. In the meantime, It has acquired over 1184 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation and the National Social Science Foundation. This university has made major breakthroughs in various fields, such as “Shenzhou” space-ship’s viewing window protection equipment for astronauts walking in space,trenchless engineering technology and equipment, “one-step” solid-phase composition of semi-aromatic high-performance preparative technology,,key technology and its development application research for production of fuel ethanol for cars,selective hydrogenation of benzene to cyclohexene catalyst and catalytic process, hardly degradable industrial wastewater treatment & key technology and equipment for toxic reduction, steel fiber reinforced concrete structure computing theory and development and application of key technology, the historical studies of Wei Jin Southern plant brassinolide research and Northern Dynasties,  Sui and Tang Dynasties. Moreover, our university has won 7 National Awards for Science & Technology Advancement (including one science popularization award), one National Technological Invention Award, and two National Natural Science Awards.

Zhengzhou University has widely conducted international exchanges and Industry education research co-operation. She has founded inter-collegiate co-operative relationship with 205 universities from over forty one countries and regions, including USA, UK, etc and eight Chinese foreign cooperation programs of education with overseas distinguished universities such as Monash University and University of Wisconsin, University of Warsaw University & the Belarusian State Academy of Music, etc of Confucius Institute in India and Confucius Classroom in USA. As the 1st batch of local universities enlisted in “Internationalization Model Institute Promotion Project Pilot Unit”, ZZU is also the founding member of “Sino-Russia Language & Culture University Alliance”, a sponsor member of “Sino-Russia Journalism Education University Alliance”, and a member of “Sino-Russia Medicine University Alliance”.Zhengzhou University is home to four state-level international joint research centers: micro-nano molding technology, cell & gene therapy, intelligent design for low-carbon environmentally friendly materials and Cancel Chemoprevention. In 2016, Zhengzhou university ranked No.31 on the list of internationalization level for Chinese Universities and Colleges. This university led the procedures to build Henan Provincial National University Science Park, and ZZU’s University Science Park came to be identified as such a park. Devoted to shaping universities project and technology service brand. This university has built ZZU Comprehensive Design Institute into a leading enterprise in Henan civil construction trade. This university is promoting the development of conglomerating affiliated hospitals, 10 of which possess 36 national clinical key specialties, 149 provincial medical key (cultivated) disciplines, and more than 33,000 beds, over 17.9 million yearly diagnoses, thus becoming the “group army” of Henan Medical Industry.
