“Mariem Kharraz” Studying Masters in International Business in Nantong University

Born in Morocco, now she is studying Masters in International Business in Nantong University, China. She says that “I’m so lucky to have this chance and come to this effective country in china”.

# Why did you chose China for doing masters?

Mariem Kharraz: China is one of the powerful countries in the world and it is known as the country of knowledge and technology. China is an increasingly popular destination for students from around the world. The Chinese language became an international language that could give you a great career boost. All over countries students chose and dreams to study here, the lab facilities and the Chinese economy could be an attractive workplace for a student looking to gain experience working overseas. So, of course, I should choose China to do my masters. 

# You might have trouble figuring out where to begin, We want to know how did you start process for Chinese application? 

Mariem Kharraz: Yeah, firstly I was very tensed about where to apply. My friend helps me about this, She saw an advertisement on Facebook so she suggested that why not coming to China so we contact with the responsible on that advertising and told us everything we need to apply for coming to China… And here we are.

#  Yeah, now China has become the largest education system in the world. How was your admission process in Nantong university as a master’s student?

Mariem Kharraz: First I applied through agency then I was waiting for my admission confirmation. After a while I got knok from agent office regarding interview, professor was keen to talk with me about my study plan, then agent office connected me with professor over wechat. There were a short interview according to my study plan like why I chose China for my future study? Why I am selecting international business, what’s my future plan, some others about personal introduction. After interview glad to say I got admission as well as scholarship within a week.  

# How long did it take your admission process?

Mariem Kharraz: It didn’t take long time, takes 1 month in half, it was a short time for us. 

# What is the duration of the Master’s program in China?

Mariem Kharraz: The duration depends on the major like example for my major ( international business) is two years but for some others, it takes three years.

# In what language are you doing your program? Is it in English medium or Chinese?

Mariem Kharraz: I’m doing my masters now in English language. It is an English medium course but Chinese learning is important. 

# Is Chinese language courses and HSK test compulsory for English medium Business administration major?

Mariem Kharraz: Yes, I am studying the Chinese language in addition with the other classes and also I passed HSK test 3. 

# How much cost to study masters in China? 

Mariem Kharraz: Basically, it cost 25000RMB per year, but I have a scholarship so the studies is free for me. 

# Oh nice! Can you please tell us something about your scholarship? Has anyone helped you for getting scholarship in China?

Mariem Kharraz: Smile! My scholarship covers the fees of studies and the dormitory also. Yes, DIGI EDU PRO agency helped me to get a scholarship. 

# That’s great! What type scholarship you have?

Mariem Kharraz: I am very fortunate I have full tuition and dormitory fee scholarship during my whole(2 years) course. Although, I didn’t expect full scholarship when I applied for admission.

# fabulous!! Did you focus on ranking before taking admission? What is your university’s ranking? 

Mariem Kharraz: Of course, Our university world ranking is 1403  and obviously the ranking is an important thing for every student who wants to choose a university and complete his studies.

# What will you do after doing Master’s program in China?

Mariem Kharraz: Actually I found the studies in China very interesting so I can learn lots of things so after my Masters I’m thinking to do my PHD here in China.

# Do you have any career aspirations?

Mariem Kharraz: Be honest, as my major is international business so I will do something that has a relation with it I want to do my own business. I hope university will help me to accomplish my career aspirations.

# Sound nice!! Did you notice any changes in your life after taking admission in Nantong university?

Mariem Kharraz: Smile!! Absolutely my experience in the university before is not the same now because doing bachelor is not doing master so right now I’m feeling that everything has changed my relationship with studies is becoming more and more strong than before.

# Many foreign students have hesitation about Chinese foods, What do you think about Chinese foods?

Mariem Kharraz: As everybody knows that the Chinese foods are very healthy and it contains lots of different ingredients vegetables and meats, in the beginning, you can feel the difference between the foods that you used to eat and the Chinese foods but after some time you adapt to the Chinese foods and you will like it a lot.

# What about your university canteen? 

Mariem Kharraz: Smile! There are a lot of students in our campus as well as a lot of canteens in every place of the university. Besides the campus, there are lots of restaurant for Chinese and western foods(KFC, Mcdonald, Starbucks, Pizza hut, etc). As a foods lover no problem for me whether Chinese or western.

# Is there has any halal food available?

Mariem Kharraz: Good Question, as a Muslim I was concerned about this before coming in china. But, there are no problems at all, in campus and outside of campus halal foods are available for Muslim students. Besides you can cook by self. 

# How much it cost to live here in china? By whom do you study in China? 

Mariem Kharraz: 500-2000 RMB is more than enough to live, it actually completely depend on person to person. As I have a scholarship without stipend so my parents send me the money that I need.

# What you think about China, Is it safe for women/Girls?

Mariem Kharraz: Smile! Parents do not need to be worried about their children security. Because the environment is very safe so you feel the security around you and this an important thing of course for every student and especially for girls or women. So, no need to be worried about this point because you will be the most safest area in the world. 

# Would you say something for those who are interested in studying master’s in China?

Mariem Kharraz: Yeah, I just want to say, If you made this decision to come and do masters in China, believe me, you will not regret you be proud of your self later because you made the correct decision.

#  What is your suggestion for prospective students who wants to study in china?

Mariem Kharraz: Coming here to China is the best thing happened to me ever I can say that I’m so lucky to have this chance and come to this powerful country so my advice to the other students if you got a chance to come here you shouldn’t waste it cause it will be a great experience in your life you will have a chance to study the Chinese language, you will learn about the Chinese culture, will meet other culture and get more knowledge and make lots of friends from different countries. You will make Chinese friends, American friends and it will increase your knowledge.
